US Navy Officer's Summer Tan Uniform
Original WW2 US Navy officer's summer tan uniform, features as follows:
Tunic: Tan tropical worsted wool construction with tan rayon lining, four pockets, and all gilt brass buttons present. Original flat style Commander rank shoulder boards with brass wire bullion stars and brass tape stripes. Has the following ribbons [all US Navy "wide" style on clutch back mounts with correct flat face clutches: Bronze Star w/device; China Service; American Defense with 1 campaign star; American Campaign; European Campaign; Pacific Campaign with 2 stars; WW2 Victory; Philippine Liberation with 2 stars. Mfg by PHILADELPHIA UNIFORM CO., Conshohocken, PA. Large size 42 Regular. Several ink stains to lining on inside right chest, but does not affect external appearance. No moth holes or other damage.
Trousers: Tan tropical worsted wool with zipper fly, five white cotton internal pockets, and tan rayon waist lining. Size 35 Long, mfg by PHILADELPHIA UNIFORM CO. Original owner's name THENOT written on underside of left front pocket. Several holes to left seat but these are covered by the tunic when worn.
Uniform is exactly as I found it, and would certainly be worthy of research [the ribbons indicating this guy did quite a bit from the pre-war days on through the entire war--I'd love to know the history myself]. Nice piece for any US Navy uniform collection, tunic and insignia are in fine condition, trousers are in good condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
