Description

This is a unique and interesting collection of memorabilia from the Vaudeville Dancers known as Blanche and Elliot.  They were well-known
Adagio dancers. This large and diverse collection came from the family of Rose Blanche, one of the dancers in the Blanche and Elliot pair.  Since there is much to describe and the condition of the collection ranges from fair to very good, please read my
description carefully and be sure to closely examine the pictures.  If you would like more pictures or have questions, please feel free to reach out to me.  The collection will need to be shipped in two separate packages:  the first will be the poster/drawing and the second will be everything else.
The collection includes the following:
A handmade, chalk poster of Blanche and Elliott which was probably placed at the entrance to a performance.  It reads, "Sketched by Chief Marcellus," and features the artist's vision of the dancers in costume.  It measures approximately 1 2/3 feet by 2 1/2 feet.  The back reads, "Paramount Illustrator's Board."  This leads me to believe the illustrator worked for Paramount.  It's cardboard.  The outside edges have some issues, but it's still a very cool piece.
The scrapbook contains mostly newspaper articles and pictures of Blanche and Elliot, which are all glued in. There are a few magazine pages that talk about several different dance acts represented by Ned Wayburn. The glued pages are totally full with memorabilia ranging  from the late 20's to the early 40's with a majority of it being the 30's. There was so much stuffed in the pages that I had to pull some of it out because the scrapbook would not close. There is a separate paragraph for that stuff. The contents of the scrapbook are in overall good condition but some pages and articles have some tears and curling.  The cover is dark brown and says The Ideal Scrapbook and it measures 11 inches by 16 inches. The covers are cardboard and in pretty good condition but the back cover has some stains.
Among the contents that had to removed from the scrapbook is 26 dance programs that range from being a single page to being nice booklets with great covers and photos inside. There are a couple menus and many more newspaper articles. Most of these articles are not in as good of condition as the glued in ones.   There are 5 eight by ten photos of the dancers in costumes. As with everything else in the collection the photos range from fair to good condition.
There are also 16 pages of what was clearly a photo album that came apart. Many of the photos are of Rose Blanche enjoying the sites of the many different places they danced. There are a few of her in dance costumes, a few of Elliot, and a few of them rehearsing on the beach. Some of the pages have articles and other memorable in between them The pictures themselves are glued in and are in pretty good condition and they too range in age from the 20's to the 40's.  The pages themselves range from being fine to missing corners to missing the holes that would have been tied together to hold the album. Also, one photo is missing. The pages measure 7 inches by 12 inches.
There are 21 dancer copies of booking contracts. Many of them are curled at the top and a few have tears. There is one newish photo of Blanche as older woman holding the scrapbook. A  local paper found out about the history of Blanch and Elliot and interviewed her about her experiences on stage.
Again please look at the photo's carefully. If you would like more photos or have questions please feel free to ask.
