Comments: * Gutenberg 685. - "Becker was born in Essen and studied there at the arts and crafts school, where he was trained as a graphic designer. At the beginning of the First World War he served as a soldier, from 1915 he studied further in Karlsruhe, where he belonged to the Rih group, and from 1922 in Dresden. From 1924 to 1935 he lived in Cassis-sur-Mer in France, from where he made trips to the capital and Italy. He moved from Bühl (Baden) to Tutzing in 1938. After he had already been declared a 'degenerate artist' in 1937, a career at the academy in Karlsruhe was later prevented. It was not until 1951 that he became a teacher there, and in 1952 he was appointed professor. In 1959 Becker moved back to Tutzing after his wife Yvonne, née von König, died. From 1974 he spent the last years of his life in Dießen am Ammersee. There he created an abstract old work. In old age he died in Tutzing, where he found his final resting place in the old cemetery. Walter Becker was friends with Georges Braque, George Grosz and other artists. "(Wikipedia) - Small remnants of assembly on the reverse.
