Comments: * Vollmer 5; not with Gutenberg; Sparke 131A. - "The artist's imagination must have been so rich, especially in earlier years, that he was barely able to fit his many ideas into one picture composition and therefore banished them to the remarques [...]. But since Winkler is aware of the danger of too many artistic ideas, he has found an appealing solution: In the middle of the plate, he creates an ex-libris of moderate size, just right for use, and he frames this center of the picture with wonderful edge ideas. The owner of such a plate can have any number of prints made from the middle picture without remarques to stick in the book, but for art enjoyment and collectors, any number of the total plate.
