Description
Item detailsBookplate Tilde Kudernatsch. On the lakeshore under a tree sitting (back figure), looking at the sea and the peaks of Spitsbergen in Norway, with birch trees around them.
Schimek, Herbert Toni (1905-1982):
[1928]. 86 x 65 mm. Copper engraving.
Language: German
Order number: 14511
Comments: * Vollmer 4; Gutenberg 9797; Opus 26. - Signed in the print. Schimek, an unmistakable Cossmann student, loved the detail in his bookplates and occasional graphics. It sometimes took up to 100 hours of pure engraving time until one of his sheets was finished - and that as a master of the small format. The ornamental is in the foreground, but it does not push ahead because it does not cover the other motifs. What is striking about Schimek is that he is one of the few artists who did not like the act. - Good copy.
