Description

Set Of 3 W.H. GRINDLEY CO. ENGLAND Porcelain Bone Dish Salad White & Gold Gild. Condition is "Used".
Crescent shaped table dishes date from 19th Century and were originally used as a separating dish to keep cold food separated from hot food as in a salad side plate. The crescent shape was made to fit at the side of the place plate and so took up very little room. This crescent dish is called a bone dish in America and more recently has been used for the purpose that its name suggests.
These are from 1914-1925 based on the markings on the bottom. They were a limited edition. They do show their age with wear to the gold gilding around the edges and cracking in the glaze.
